Moore, Kellen Boise State’s Kellen Moore (2008-11) The Boise State underachiever has stats that most quarterbacks only dream of. With an incredible 50-3 record, he is the all-time winningest quarterback in college football history, and he graduated with more touchdown passes than anybody in history (since broken). He also has the most yards per attempt of any quarterback who has taken more than 10 sacks during their career.
Why he’s number one: In addition to having the most wins by a quarterback (which is important), he’s also first because of how long he played for his school (three years). And not only that, but he also led his team to a bowl game every year he was there. Kellen Moore wasn’t very good as a player at Boise State, but he meant well. When it came time for him to leave, he left with a winning record.
Other candidates: Matt Moore of Southern California, John David Crow of Texas Tech, Danny White of Boston College, Ken O’Brien of Miami (Ohio), Mike Gundy of Oklahoma State, Kevin Steele of North Carolina State, Ty Detmer of South Florida, Jason Candle of Utah Valley State, Steve Walsh of Eastern Michigan, and Charlie Batch of Ohio State.
He won more games than anyone else from 2008-11.
Seven Longhorns have reached or exceeded the 25-win plateau as starters, and Texas formerly had the all-time college football quarterback career victory leader on campus. While there are many deserving contenders, Horns247 has chosen the Top 10 all-time quarterbacks to play at the University of Texas.
So here is my list of the greatest quarterbacks in school history.
The top eight all-time winning percentages in college football
Tarkenton won the MVP award in 1975 after finishing 12-2 and led the league in touchdowns with 25; he also received his sole first-team All-Pro selection that year. The Pro Football Hall of Fame displays Dan Marino artifacts. Marino is the best quarterback in NFL history who has never won a Super Bowl. He lost in four straight finals from 1993 to 1996 with the Miami Dolphins.
With five career MVP honors, Peyton Manning has the most of any quarterback.

Ian Book, the quarterback During Notre Dame’s 45-21 Senior Day victory against Syracuse on December 5, Irish graduate student quarterback Ian Book examines the field before taking the snap. Book currently has a 30-3 record as the winningest quarterback in Notre Dame history. He is the second player in school history to win more than 30 games during their career behind only Johnny Unitas (34).
Book surpassed former Fighting Steve Beuerlein who had 31 wins from 1983 to 1987. Beuerlein went on to play in the NFL for several teams including two seasons with the Miami Dolphins where he won another three games.
Notre Dame’s other winning quarterbacks include: Frank Leahy (20), Terry Brennan (9), John Mackey (8), Joe Montana (7), Doug Flutie (6), Matt Looney (5), and Corey Robinson (4).
Book began his college career as a backup to Gunner Kiel before taking over as the starter in late-2017. Over the last two years, he has passed for 3,071 yards with 28 touchdowns vs. 11 interceptions while completing 62 percent of his passes.
He is expected to be the starting quarterback when Notre Dame opens its season against Michigan State on September 22 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
