In fact, PFF ranked two Michigan quarterbacks as probable starters at No. 70: sophomore Cade McNamara and Texas Tech transfer Alan Bowman. On PFF's rankings, here's where each Big Ten quarterback ranks. Junior quarterback Cade McNamara presently leads the competition for QB1 in Ann Arbor. He has a rating of 81.6 this season, which is good for 11th among all qualifying FBS players.
As for Bowman, he'll have to win the job back from McNamara after missing most of last season with an injury. The former Red Raider started five games in 2014 before suffering a torn ACL that ended his season. This past summer, he announced that he was leaving Texas Tech to pursue other opportunities.
Both McNamara and Bowman are considered potential stars in college football. However, only one will get the chance to show what they can do on the field this year.

Michigan signed 19 players from California alone in 2019. That's the most out of any state. Florida was second with 10 signings.
As far as national signing days go, February 14 has been the most important day in Michigan football history. Since 2006, when National Letter of Intent Day became an official event, that's when you'll find the most recruits pledging their allegiance to the blue and white. In 2014, when Mike Dudek brought the first class full of athletes that could play straight out of high school, there were over 70 pledges of loyalty to the program. It's safe to say that Michigan football is where these kids want to be on National Letter of Intent Day.
In 2014, Michigan signed its first class on NLI Day. Since then, they've signed several more big classes on this date. In 2017, they had their biggest class ever with 79 pledges, followed by 74 in 2018, then 63 in 2019. They're expected to top that in 2020 with likely over 100 players joining the team.
Overall, Michigan has signed a total of 519 players through their first five classes.
Michigan's top eight all-time NFL players
Brady Quinn is the most recent player to join the list, and he has by far the greatest numbers of the 10. After a struggling Carlyle Holiday was removed by then-head coach Tyrone Willingham during his rookie season, Quinn was given the starting role at Notre Dame. Since then, he has been nothing short of amazing. In 2004, Quinn threw for 4,109 yards and 39 touchdowns against only 11 interceptions. He also ran for five scores that year.
Since then, he has improved each year and reached new heights in 2010, when he set the NCAA record for most passing touchdowns by a quarterback (54). His career totals are 140 victories and 12 losses as well as 4,409 yards of offense and 54 touchdowns against only 11 interceptions.
When it comes down to it, nobody knows how much time Willingham actually spent watching practice videos before naming a starter for game days. What we do know is that on any given Sunday, Brady Quinn is the man under center for the Irish.

This is a list of Texas Longhorns football starting quarterbacks since 1944. They are listed in the order that each player began their first game for the Longhorns that season. A player earns a victory if he starts the game and the team wins, regardless of whether the player is injured or permanently withdrawn after the first play.
Seven Longhorns have reached or exceeded the 25-win plateau as starters, and Texas formerly had the all-time college football quarterback career victory leader on campus. While there are many deserving contenders, Horns247 has chosen the Top 10 all-time quarterbacks to play at the University of Texas.
