All World Series games will be televised live on Fox from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers. Unlike previous playoff series, the World Series will include off-days after Games 2 and 5, as opposed to the typical travel/off-days during a normal World Series. The 2018 World Series begins on Oct. 30.
The 2017 World Series was the 107th edition of the annual best-of-seven series between the American League (AL) champion Boston Red Sox and the National League (NL) champion Chicago Cubs. The Red Sox defeated the Cubs four games to three to win their third world title.
The 2016 World Series was the 106th edition of the annual best-of-seven series between the AL champion Cleveland Indians and the NL champion Chicago Cubs. The Indians defeated the Cubs four games to one to win their second world title.
The 2015 World Series was the 105th edition of the annual best-of-seven series between the AL champion Toronto Blue Jays and the NL champion Milwaukee Brewers. The Blue Jays defeated the Brewers four games to two to win their first world title.
The 2014 World Series was the 104th edition of the annual best-of-seven series between the AL champion Detroit Tigers and the NL champion San Francisco Giants. The Giants swept the Tigers in four games to win their second world title.
All rights reserved. AP/Copyright: The Associated Press. NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. Major League Baseball expects that fans will be able to attend the World Series, which will be held exclusively at the Texas Rangers’ new ballpark in Arlington, Texas. The first game is scheduled for October 28.
The decision was made after negotiations with the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers failed to produce an agreement on possible home games that would have been played outside of Arlington. The Cubs and Dodgers had proposed that their respective cities serve as a home for one game each if they were not able to reach an agreement with Arlington officials.
In a statement, MLB said it is “pleased that this matter has been resolved and that the World Series will be played only at Rangers Ballpark.” The World Series is expected to generate more than $200 million for the Texas economy during the six-game series.
The Rangers opened Rangers Ballpark in April 2009. The $180 million facility is the largest baseball stadium in Texas and one of the most expensive ever built. It features a transparent roof that opens up like a fan when it rains so that spectators can see the weather affect the ball game. Inside the stadium, there are statues of former Rangers players who won world championships with the New York Yankees organization. The only team that has won more World Series than the Yankees is the Chicago Cubs, with nine titles.
The 2020 World Series will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Texas Rangers, who play their home games at Globe Life Field, did not make the playoffs. However, since the Chicago Cubs were eliminated after winning the National League Championship Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers, the World Series has been given to another team from the American League for only the second time in history. The Boston Red Sox have won six of the seven previous World Series played at that location.
The Rangers finished with a record of 86-76 during the regular season and lost to the Yankees in the AL Division Series. The Cubs finished with a record of 103-59 during the regular season and defeated the Dodgers in the NLCS to advance to the World Series. This is the first time since 2009 that neither of the New York teams made the playoffs.
World Series games are usually well attended by baseball fans, but due to the coronavirus pandemic ongoing health concerns about crowds gathering in person, both MLB and the Rangers have decided to hold all Games 3, 4 and 5 of the series online using video conferencing software during Spring Training. The games would still be broadcast on television, but no one outside of those participating in the event would be able to see it happen in person.
Fox will broadcast all World Series games, which can also be heard on the following radio stations: WPHT 1210, ESPN Radio, WUBA 1480 (Philadelphia), WCBS 880, ESPN Radio, and 92.7 WQBU (New York). According to the MLB, the World Series schedule is as follows:
Game 1: Wednesday, October 23 at Chicago-Cubs (FOX) - 7:00 PM ET
Game 2: Friday, October 25 at Chicago-Cubs (FOX) - 7:00 PM ET
Game 3: Sunday, October 27 at Chicago-Cubs (FOX) - 3:07 PM ET / 1:07 PM ET

The Cubs and Cardinals have not met in the World Series since 2006. However, both teams have been dominant this year, with the Cubs winning the National League Championship and the Cardinals claiming the American League Pennant. With each team winning their second consecutive title, it will be the first time since 1918 that two consecutive World Series have featured two repeat champions.
This is the first World Series since 1908 in which neither of the two finalists has come from the American League.
