The Bay Bridge Series, often known as the Battle of the Bay, is a series of baseball games contested between the Oakland Athletics of the American League and the San Francisco Giants of the National League. The two teams first met on April 16, 1990, with the Athletics winning 1-0 at Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum. The A's hold a 2-1 lead in the all-time series.
Both the A's and the Giants play their home games at Oracle Park in Bay Area California. The A's home stadium is Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum, while the Giants home stadium is AT&T Park. The A's have won both the overall series and the last three series meetings.
There have been several notable players from both teams over the years including Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays, Robin Yount, Barry Bonds, and Tim Lincecum. There have been eight no-hitters in this series including four by the Giants and four by the A's.
The Bay Bridge Series is a matchup between two division winners who both made the playoffs last year. The Athletics were able to end their nine-year playoff drought while the Giants returned to the postseason for the first time since 2010.
Dodgers of Los Angeles The Dodgers-Giants rivalry is a Major League Baseball rivalry between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB). It is considered one of the most fierce and longest-running rivalries in American baseball, with some analysts calling it the greatest sports rivalry of all time. The two teams have met at least once every season since 1962, with the exception of 1972 when the World Series was played only during the summer months.
A's of Oakland The Athletics-Giants rivalry is a major league baseball rivalry between the Oakland A's and the San Francisco Giants. It is considered one of the most competitive divisions in all of baseball and has been called the "West Coast Battle Royale" by some media members. The two teams have met at least once every season since 1989, with the exception of 1995 when they split their series due to labor issues.
Padres of San Diego From 1969 to 1976, the Padres did not play any other team more than twice per year. They had a rivalry with the Dodgers but also played the Pirates, Reds, and Phillies pretty often. However, since moving to San Diego in 2004, they now have more frequent matchups with the Dodgers and Giants than they do with their old rivals.
Brewers of Milwaukee The Giants and Brewers have been division opponents for many years now, although they haven't always been in the same division.
The 49ers will face the Chiefs in this year's Super Bowl, their first meeting in the big game. San Francisco defeated Green Bay in the NFC championship game just hours after Kansas City defeated Tennessee in the AFC championship game. The last time these two teams met was in 2013, with the Chiefs winning 34-27 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
Both of these teams have impressive records over the past season and a half. The Chiefs are 89-63 since 2010, including a 9-3 record this past season, while the 49ers are 88-64 since 2009, including a 12-4 record this past year. These two teams have never before faced off in the Super Bowl, but we can expect both of them to put up a good fight for the title.
Kansas City is making its second consecutive appearance in the Super Bowl; they lost to New England by a score of 34-28 back in 2014. They're also going for their third win in four attempts. Meanwhile, the 49ers are looking to advance to their second straight Super Bowl; they lost to New England by a score of 28-24 in 2015. They've also got three wins in four tries this year.
There have been some changes made to both of these rosters since they last met.
The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees are Tampa Bay's main rivals. The rivalry between the Red Sox and the Rays stretches back to the 2000 season, when Devil Ray Gerald Williams was struck by a pitch thrown by Boston pitcher Pedro Martinez and stormed the mound, leading in a game full of retribution and ejections on both sides. This series is also notable for being one of the first games ever played at Tropicana Field.
The other major league team that plays in the Northeast is the New York Yankees. The Rays and the Yankees have been division rivals since the two teams joined the new American League in 1996. These two teams play each other every year in the regular season with the winner going into the AL East championship while the loser goes home.
In addition to these two teams, the Rays also have rivalries with several other organizations within the American League. Most notably, they have feuds with the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. The Rays also have a close relationship with the Baltimore Orioles; although they aren't in direct competition with each other, they often play each other very closely throughout the season. With so many rivalries to keep track of, it's no surprise that fans get involved with this team and start calling them "Rays fans" even though they're not from Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay has also developed some friendly relationships with other teams. Most notably, they have mutual respect for the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels.
The Patriots compete in the Double-A Northeast League and play their home games at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, where baseball fans of all ages and levels can enjoy the unique experience that is minor league baseball. The stadium was built in 2004 and is located right on the Merrimack River in downtown Bridgewater.
The Patriots are the only team in the NELL who do not have any affiliation with an Major League Baseball club. However, they do have a partnership with the Boston Red Sox. If the Patriots were to win the championship, then the Red Sox would receive $100,000 from the winning bid. If the Patriots lost the title game, then the Red Sox would receive $50,000 from the losing bid.
There are several different ticket options available for fans looking to see the Patriots play in person. Single-game tickets go on sale beginning in April and can be purchased online at www.patriotsbaseball.com/tickets or by phone at (978) 834-1402.
