The Houston Oilers have never won a championship. They came closest to winning a title three times, in 1967, 1978, and 1979, when they lost the Conference Championship. Each of those seasons they made it to the NFL Championship game where they would lose.

In 1990 quarterback Warren Moon joined the Oilers after playing nine seasons for the Minnesota Vikings. Under his leadership the team went all the way to the Super Bowl where they met the Chicago Bears. Although they outplayed the Bears for most of the game, including a fourth quarter comeback, they failed to score any touchdowns and lost 19-14 at home court.
