Germany qualified for the 2014 World Cup final for a second time after defeating Argentina 2-1 in Berlin. It was their second World Cup appearance after they also reached the final in 1990. They will be hoping to win their first title when the tournament starts on June 14th in Brazil.

Domestically, Barcelona has won a record 74 trophies, including 26 La Liga championships, 31 Copa del Rey wins, thirteen Supercopa de Espana titles, three Copa Eva Duarte titles, and two Copa de la Liga awards, while also holding the record for the latter four tournaments. Internationally, Barça have been crowned world champions once, in 1992. They are one of only three clubs to have won the UEFA Champions League without losing a single match (the other two being Real Madrid and Italian club Juventus).

Two years later, they met again in the same group stage where Michael Owen scored one goal and earned man of the match award. This time, it was Barca who came out on top with 3-1 win over United. Their next meeting came in the quarterfinals of the 1999-2000 UEFA Champions League where Roy Keane scored an own goal to give Barcelona a crucial away goal that sent the match to extra time. In the ensuing penalty shootout, Michel Salgado saved twice from Ryan Giggs to help Manchester United advance.
They next met in the 2001-02 UEFA Champions League where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave his side a first-half lead before Ronaldo scored a late equalizer.
