George James Parros George James Parros (born December 29, 1979) is a former professional ice hockey player from the United States who presently works as the head of the NHL's Department of Player Safety, with the title of senior vice president of player safety. He has been in this position since January 2014.
Parros played in the National Hockey League for the Florida Panthers, Los Angeles Kings, and New York Rangers. He also represented the United States at several international tournaments. After retiring as a player, he became an assistant coach for the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team.
He began his career with the Panthers, where he stayed for three seasons. In 2002, he moved to Sweden to play for Färjestad BK. After one season there, he returned to North America to sign with the Kings. He ended up playing only one game for Los Angeles before being traded to the Rangers. With them, he won the Stanley Cup in 1994. He left the Kings as their all-time leader in penalty minutes accumulated while with the club. He also ranks second all time with the team in points scored by a defenseman.
After retirement, Parros worked as a security guard at Madison Square Garden. The New York Rangers hired him as a player development coach in May 2013.
James Sheppard (born April 25, 1988) is a professional ice hockey forward from Canada who currently plays for Eisbaren Berlin in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He formerly played for the Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Sheppard was selected by the Wild with their third-round pick, 95th overall, at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He has also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2019. Before joining the Maple Leafs, Sheppard played two seasons with the University of Maine Black Bears, helping them win the NCAA national championship in 2013.
Sheppard made his NHL debut on October 11, 2009, against the Montreal Canadiens. He scored his first career goal four days later against Mathieu Garon of the Carolina Hurricanes. On January 24, 2010, the Wild traded Sheppard to the Sharks in exchange for Matt Tennant. In San Jose, he reunited with former Wild coach Mike Yeo who was then behind the Sharks' bench.
After one season with the Sharks, Sheppard signed as a free agent with the New York Rangers on July 1, 2011. During the 2012–13 season, he served as an alternate captain for the Rangers, before being placed on injured reserve on November 29, 2012. After one season with the Rangers, Sheppard opted to terminate his contract with the club after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract.
Mark Alexander Fraser (born September 29, 1986) is a Canadian ice hockey defenseman who plays with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He has formerly played in the National Hockey League with the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Edmonton Oilers (NHL).
He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round (44th overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Fraser made his NHL debut during the 2005–06 season. He scored his first career goal on January 25, 2007 against Martin Biron of the New York Rangers. The following season, he served as an alternate captain for the Devils while Andy Greene was out with injury. In 2009–10, Fraser led all Devils' defensemen in points with 44 after scoring 10 goals along with 34 assists. He also appeared in all 82 games that season.
Fraser signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1, 2011. He spent three seasons with the team before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2014. After one season with Edmonton, Fraser left as a free agent to sign a two-year deal with German club, Schwenninger Wild Wings, on July 16, 2015.
