After playing in the minor leagues for a few years, he made his major league debut on April 15th, 1946 against the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1951, his last season with the Braves, he led the team in hits (197) and doubles (45).
After his retirement, Alston became the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers (1956-1959) and the Cincinnati Reds (1960-1961). During his time with these two teams, he won a World Series with each one: in 1957 with the Milwaukee Braves and in 1970 with the Cincinnati Reds.
Luis Aparicio was a Puerto Rican baseball player who played second base for the New York Yankees from 1949 to 1960.
