The next year, he went to University of Michigan where he played college football for two seasons. In 1998, he had 35 receptions for 462 yards and four touchdowns while being named second team All-American by The Sporting News. After his freshman season, he decided to enter the NFL draft.
In New England, he has won three Super Bowls - in 2001, 2004, and 2005 - and earned MVP awards each time. He is also the only quarterback to lead his team to victory in their opening game after starting the season 0-4.
