Julius Randle is having the finest year of his NBA career, having been named an All-Star and anticipated to earn Most Improved Player. The Knicks haven't won in a long time, as the franchise's ineptitude has made them a league-wide laughingstock in recent years. However, Randle is leading the way for optimism going into 2018-19.
Randle is one of the most complete players in the game today. He can score in a variety of ways: post up, pull up, catch and shoot, drive the ball, etc. He's also one of the best rebounders in the NBA and plays with an edge that many other players don't have.

Randle's performance as a rookie is already being considered one of the best in Knicks history. The 7'1" forward from LSU posted double-doubles in each of his first three games as a professional, including a record-setting performance against the Toronto Raptors where he scored 44 points while grabbing 14 rebounds. As a result, Randle became just the third rookie in NBA history to post triple-doubles in his first three games played, following Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal.
In addition to his triple-double, Randle also set a new franchise record for most points scored by a Knick in their first game (with 44). He also tied the record for most rebounds recorded in a game by a Knick, with 14 rebounds. Finally, Randle also earned MVP honors at the 2021 NBA All-Star Game which will be held in his hometown of New Orleans.
Overall, it can be said that Randle's rookie season was nothing short of spectacular. He proved himself to be an impact player right away, helping the Knicks reach the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
