Coach Dan Mullen's squad finished the season 12-1 (8-1 SEC), winning its ninth straight game before losing 41-14 to Georgia in the SEC Championship. It was the Gators' first loss this year coming down to the final minute of regulation. Quarterback Jalen Tabor threw for 2,894 yards and 26 touchdowns with just three interceptions while running back Jordan Scarlett had 1,272 yards and 13 scores on the ground.
Oklahoma also went 12-1 (7-1 Big 12) and won the conference title before falling to Iowa State 42-20 in the Big 12 Championship.
