Gordon Daniel Hayward (born March 23, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association's Charlotte Hornets (NBA). He played two seasons of collegiate basketball for the Butler Bulldogs before being taken ninth overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. In his first season with the Jazz, he was named to the All-Rookie First Team.
After one season with the Jazz, Hayward was traded to the Boston Celtics in a three-team trade involving the Jazz. He then had two seasons with the Celtics before being acquired by the Hornets via trade on draft day 2019.
He has also played for Italy at the EuroBasket tournaments. Before turning pro, Hayward played one season of college basketball for the Butler Bulldogs. As a freshman, he averaged 19.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting.500 from behind the arc. After his first season, he decided to forgo his final year of college eligibility to enter the 2010 NBA Draft.
