He is a retired American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL). Arrington was drafted by the Washington Redskins of the National Football League in the 2000 NFL Draft. Furthermore, LaVar played in the NFL for seven seasons until retiring in 2007. During his career, he won a Super Bowl ring with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After playing seven seasons in the NFL, Arrington decided to go into business with fellow former teammate Shawn Jefferson. Together, they started a sports apparel company called LiL LaVar LLC. The company has since then made its way into other sports such as basketball and hockey. In 2009, LiL LaVar entered the world of golf with their line of clothing products called "LaVar's Pageant". Today, this family business based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, employs more than 1,000 people and has revenues of more than $100 million.
In 2014, Arrington had another successful season with the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA. He played in 16 games and averaged 4.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 14.3 minutes per game. The following year, he played in all 82 games for the first time in his career as the Lakers finished with 48 wins and tied for second place in the Pacific Division. Under head coach Luke Walton, Arrington helped lead the Lakers to their first 50-win season since 2005-06.
When he was with the Washington Redskins, LaVar Arrington was one of the league's most exciting linebackers. Arrington has 21.5 sacks, three interceptions, six forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries in his first four seasons. From 2001 through 2003, Arrington was named to the Pro Bowl every year. After missing all of 2004 due to injury, Arrington retired from football after the 2005 season.
Arrington's career ended shortly after his retirement, as he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. He died on January 12, 2007 at the age of only thirty-two.
Although he was diagnosed with cancer, many people still believe that his career ended because he felt disrespected by the Redskins management team. Before he joined the Redskins, Arrington had some trouble with the law, but he had been a role model for many young people who wanted to pursue a career in sports.
Even though he was drafted by the Redskins straight out of UCLA, many people think that Arrington got his start in the NFL with the Los Angeles Raiders. The Redskins traded their first-round pick (seventh overall) and two second-round picks (forty-fourth and fifty-second) to get him. This shows how much they believed in him.
During his time with the Redskins, Arrington won a Super Bowl and appeared in another one. He also led the league in tackles several times.
LaVar Arrington played in the NFL for seven seasons. He finished his career with 178 tackles and six interceptions.
In 2004, five months after being released by the Washington Redskins, Arrington returned to the league when the Pittsburgh Steelers signed him as a free agent. Arrington had 22 tackles that season. His last season in the NFL was 2005 when he played for the New York Jets and had nine tackles.
During his seven-year career, Arrington started 75 of 80 games played. His best season was 2002 when he started all 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys and had 99 tackles, three sacks, and an interception.
In total, Arrington was selected to the Pro Bowl after his first four seasons in the NFL. He was voted out of the Pro Bowl after missing the game due to injury in 2004. That same year, he was also voted into the All-Pro Team as a linebacker.
Arrington was born on January 4th, 1975 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He went to high school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before moving on to play college football at UCLA. There, he became just the third player in NCAA history to score 100 touchdowns (101).

In 2007, while attending Hofstra University, Arrington started all 13 games he appeared in and recorded 51 tackles and five interceptions. He also returned nine punts for 42 yards and one touchdown.
After graduating from Hofstra in 2008, Arrington entered the NFL draft. At the time of the draft, he was considered a late-round prospect at best. The Philadelphia Eagles took a chance on him and signed him as an undrafted free agent. He spent the first eight weeks of the season on the practice squad before being added to the active roster. He ended up making 16 appearances that year and notching three tackles.
