After graduating from high school in Sweden, Sorenstam moved to Florida at the age of 19 to pursue a career in golf. Two years later, she captured her first World Golf Championship title at the 1995 Women's British Open. In addition to these victories, Sorenstam has six other LPGA major championships to her name.
In 1997, Sorenstam decided to retire from professional golf to focus on her family and her restaurant business. However, she returned to the game in 2001 at the age of 28. Despite losing almost half of her starts over the next three seasons, she managed to win 11 times, including three majors. Sorenstam again retired after the 2004 season but came out of retirement in 2009 at the age of 35 to play on the Symetra Tour.
