Gabriela Sabatini is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. She was a notable female tennis player in the 1980s and 1990s, winning 41 championships, including the WTA Finals in 1988 and the US Open in 1990. In 2006, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. She is also an entrepreneur who has a fragrance line. Her first commercial success came with her signature scent, which is named after her. She has another two brands: a women's clothing line called Gaby and a men's clothing line called Badoex.
Sabatini has had a significant impact on the sport of tennis in Argentina and around the world. She is considered by many to be the greatest female tennis player of all time.

There are also runners such as Alberto Juarez who in 1913 became the first person to run a mile in under 4 minutes. In more recent years, there have been several high-profile athletes including Walter Dix who competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and Juan Carlos Soto who won a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Finally, there is a boxer called Manny Pacquiao who is considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing history. He has held this title since May 2, 1998 when he defeated Ricky Hatton to become the WBC Super Bantamweight Champion.
Pacquiao has also participated in several fights outside of boxing including a four-round bout with Jeff Fenech which took place on April 17, 1990 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The fight earned him the nickname "The Filipino Rocky."

However, Spain is also home to some really great female athletes whose work should not be overlooked! Here are five women who have been successful in both soccer and athletics.
Nuria Fernández was a successful track and field athlete in her own right during her career. She competed in the high jump at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, but did not reach the final round after suffering an injury. Fernández went on to have a successful career as a soccer player with Barcelona and Madrid. She was part of the Spanish national team for three years, scoring two goals. In 1991, she became the first woman to receive the Golden Boot award given to the top scorer at the FIFA World Cup.
Alicia García de la Rosa has had a successful career as a soccer player since emerging as a teenager. The striker played with Real Madrid's youth teams before making her senior debut in 1995. She went on to play over 100 games for the club and score over 50 goals. In 2001, she moved to German side Bayer Leverkusen where she spent one season before returning to Spain and signing with city rivals Real Madrid. At the time of her retirement in 2004, she was the all-time leading goal scorer at the Women's World Cup with six goals.
