In 2016, for example, reports surfaced that an American museum had bought the cup for $350,000 after it was offered for sale by FIFA. This means that the price of the cup has increased by more than 300 percent since it was first released.
However, this does not take into account future increases in the price of gold or silver so the real value may be higher now than it was in 1974.
