Women in Dubai cannot go to public toilets by themselves, according to new rules issued by the government. The rules state that if a woman wants to use a toilet she must have a man with her to protect her from sexual harassment. Women are also required to wear headscarves when using public facilities.
These restrictions have caused outrage among activists and feminists around the world. Some have accused the government of discriminating against women, while others have argued that they prevent victims of sexual assault from reporting crimes.
The rules were announced in November 2011 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister and ruler of Dubai. He said at the time that women's rights are "important principles" that form part of Islamic law.

Sport is widely practiced by the people of the United Arab Emirates. The country's only appearance at the FIFA World Cup was during the 1994 edition when they were eliminated at the group stage.
