Games are played in every town and across the countryside, both informally and as part of local and national leagues. Soccer is by far the most popular sport in Myanmar; it is estimated that there are more than 5 million people involved in the game.
Football is controlled by the Union of Myanmar Football Associations (UMFA). There are nine districts in Myanmar where football is played: Ayeyawady, Bago, Kachin, Kayah, Mon, Rakhine, Shan, and Tanintharyi. The season runs from early January to late March. The most important tournament is the FA Cup. Other major competitions include the Super League and National League.
The first known soccer match was played in Burma (now Myanmar) in 1884 between a team from Calcutta (now Kolkata) and one from Rangoon (now Yangon). It is believed that the game continued without interruption until 1905 when records stop being published. It has been speculated that this may have been because of military rule, but no proof of this has been found. In any case, football did not make a comeback into the country until 1975 when a government-sponsored program began training players and forming teams for annual tournaments.
Say it out loud: Uganda is on hold. Soccer is the most popular sport and offers spectator entertainment, with a national league and yearly playoffs. Cricket and rugby are other popular spectator sports. Boxing is extremely popular and gives a national prize in each class. The Cowboys sold their third-round (92nd overall) pick to the Detroit Lions in exchange for fourth-round (111th and 101st overall) picks in 2008 and 2009. In exchange for a fourth-round (100th overall) pick, the Cowboys sent linebacker Akin Ayodele and tight end Anthony Fasano to the Miami Dolphins. The Dallas Cowboys have selected WR Patrick Jones from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
They also play Aussie rules football, which is similar to Australian rules football but uses a soccer ball. The country's only professional AFL team is the Eagles. They play in Ugandan Premier League, which is similar to the National Football League (NFL). The top three teams qualify for the finals series. The final winner is called the Cup champion.
In addition, there is a national basketball league with eight teams and a national volleyball league with six teams. All sports are followed closely by Ugandans who vote for their favorite players and teams through text messages. The winners are awarded after every game has been played between all competing teams. There is no season length for any sports except football, where each club plays 36 games over a four-month period. After this long season, the top two clubs will meet in the final match of the league phase. This final game will determine which club will win the title.
Uganda has become one of Africa's biggest exporters of football talent.
All netball matches are held at Saxtons Field in Stoke. The Wanderers clubrooms are open for all athletic events and may also be rented. It is determined by the games that are being played on that particular day. New members are welcomed and encouraged, even if they do not intend to participate in any specific sport.

Teams will compete in a 6-game regular season on weeknights at the Hershewe Soccer Complex, which is part of the Joplin Athletic Complex. Each player will be outfitted with a jersey, shorts, and socks. The Missouri Valley Conference sponsors men's and women's soccer at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In addition, there is a USA South Collegiate Soccer League that features college students playing in front of crowds of up to 500 people per game.
The season begins in early August and ends in late April. Games are usually played on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. There are also several exhibition games during the season that serve as qualifiers for future tournaments. These games are not counted against your team's record but they do count towards gaining experience.
The winner of each conference is declared based on overall record. The top two teams in each division will advance to a single-elimination tournament called the Missouri Valley Tournament. The third-place team will play a one-game playoff against the second-place team with the winner advancing to the Missouri Valley Tournament. The fourth-place team will play a one-game playoff against the third-place team with the winner advancing to the Missouri Valley Tournament.
The winners of the Missouri Valley Tournament will advance to a national tournament called the College Cup.
