The design also includes a state-of-the-art video scoreboard and guest seating behind the basket. The United Center opened on October 30, 1994 after being delayed due to financial issues surrounding its construction.
It is the largest single-facility indoor sports arena in the United States and has been listed on several lists of the world's greatest stadiums. The United Center is owned by Oak View Group (OVG), which also owns the Los Angeles Clippers and Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder.
In addition to hosting basketball games, the United Center is also used for concerts, ice shows, and other events. Its 12,500-seat capacity makes it the second-largest concert venue in Chicago after Wrigley Field.
