The Golden Globe Accolade for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy is an annual award given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association since 1952. (HFPA). The award is presented at a private dinner held in January of each year.
The first Golden Globes were awarded on January 24, 1953. Each year since then, the event has been held on or around January 14. The only exceptions were in 2004 (January 23) and 2012 (January 10).

The Golden Globe Award is any of the yearly awards given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to recognize exceptional performance in motion films and television over the previous year. First instituted in 1947, the award was created by the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as a means of promoting their annual selection process known as "The Globes". The HFPA selects the winners from among its members, which include journalists from all over the world.
Globes are awarded in several categories that reflect the various genres of film and television. There are three main categories: drama, comedy/musical, and miniseries or movie of the week.
