Augusta National never publishes the charges connected with the club, such as initiation fees, dues, or visitor rates. Any expenditures incurred by guests are most likely paid to the member. However, it is estimated that total expenses for guests range from $150,000 to $300,000 annually.
There are no discounts offered for children or students, but there is a discount for seniors. The regular rate of admission is $35 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Seniors can enter for free every day between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. To qualify for this offer, individuals must show a valid photo ID that displays their date of birth. This could be a driver's license, passport, or military ID.
Visitors who want to stay at one of the many luxury hotels in the area may have an additional cost associated with them. These extra charges are not included in the original ticket price and can run up to an additional $100 or more per night. Some people assume that if you are a resident of Georgia you get discounted tickets, but this is not the case. A non-resident's only chance of getting cheaper tickets is if someone from within the state contacts them directly and offers them up for sale. Otherwise, they will be just as expensive as anyone else.

The most popular way to play golf at Augusta National is to receive an invitation from a member of the club. Members pay an initial charge of up to $50,000 and a yearly cost of $10,000 to $20,000. They also have the option of purchasing additional membership categories which give them more privileges.
Like other private clubs, anyone can apply to join Augusta National Golf Club. However, unlike other private clubs, they do not review each applicant's background check file or interview them. Instead, the committee selects applicants by lottery. New members are elected by the existing members every year. There are currently only 15 women and 13 men on the club's board of directors.
The opening date for applications is usually published several months in advance, though there was no deadline by which time applicants had to join. As of March 2015, there were already 1,923 members who had paid their fees and taken out their policies.

It's raining hard outside, but inside the clubhouse, it's hot as hell. A steamy atmosphere pervades as people begin to file in for the start of the tournament's final day.
The clubhouse is divided into two parts: the lower floor is where you'll find the registration area, the pro shop, and the restaurant; the upper floor is where you can watch television, listen to music, or play games. On this particular morning, there are a few people sitting at tables on the upper level, but most of the room is empty. As the rain continues to fall outside, someone turns on the air conditioner, and soon a cool breeze blows through the room.
Augusta National is a private club that charges members $99 per year to play. Non-members can come up to the 15th hole for $50, but they cannot enter any of the facilities. The only time the course is open to the public is when one of its four major championships is being held elsewhere on the site. At other times of the year, the park service closes the course to keep out trespassers.
Members may bring guests to the course, however the guest must be accompanied at all times. Augusta National is not open all year. How can you become a member of the Augusta National Golf Club?
You can apply for membership online at www.augusta.com/membership or by mail at P.O. Box 1857, Augusta, GA 30901-1857. The cost is $25,000 plus a $10,000 application fee.
The club's board of directors has the sole power to decide whether to accept an applicant's money and grant him or her membership. If you are not accepted immediately, don't worry about it. They will let you know if there's a problem with your application.
To play at Augusta National you need to be a member. However, since it's difficult to become a member without first being approved by the board, only people who have been turned down often enough to be sure that they won't be accepted this time around will make such a request. It's very unlikely that you'll get rejected if you send in your application correctly. However, even if you are accepted as a member, this doesn't mean that you'll always be allowed to play. The president may deny you permission to play if he feels like it can be done without hurting the club's image.
Part of this can be attributed to its roots in the mid-1930s. The course has been maintained by mowing, watering, and some minor repairs/upgrades throughout this time.
However, it also has something to do with the fact that it is not feasible to operate a golf course all year round in Georgia. Even with the use of artificial turf, it's not possible to play on such surfaces throughout the entire season. This is especially true since winter temperatures often fall below freezing at night. So even if there was no other reason for closing up shop, this would be done for safety purposes.
The opening date of each year is usually listed on the first page of the current season's "Conditions" booklet that is distributed by the PGA Tour. The latest such date so far is April 11th, which indicates that this year's opening tournament will begin less than eight weeks from now. Prior to 1997, the opening day was March 25th, but this was changed to ensure that there was at least one PGA Tour event going into April.
In general, you can expect Augusta National to be closed between three and four months of the year.
