United has only won the Premier League championship ONCE in the last 10 years, in 2012-13, Sir Alex Ferguson's last season. Despite their massive transfer deals, they have remained entrenched in mediocrity and have never looked like genuine rivals.
They have been eliminated in the FA Cup semi-finals each of the past two seasons, losing out to Chelsea on both occasions. And although they were victorious over Newcastle United in the first game this year, it was only because Wayne Rooney had scored a hat-trick against his former club. They rely entirely on David De Gea's brilliant performances in goal to keep them in matches. Otherwise, they get trounced by inferior teams.
Their record in Europe is also not good. Of the eight games they have played in the Champions League/Europa League since 2007, they have lost seven and only managed one draw. That single draw came against the team who had already been sent off for violence, AC Milan. It wasn't enough to make any real impact on what has so far been a very disappointing campaign for Manchester United.
