Cole completed a move to rival club Chelsea in August 2006, after a lengthy transfer drama, with whom he won more honors, including the Premier League in the 2009-10 season, four FA Cups, one Football League Cup, and one UEFA Champions League. He had been with Arsenal for eight years.
He was sold by Arsenal to make way for French striker Olivier Giroud. Despite this fact, Cole ended up playing an important role for his new team, helping them win their first European title in 2012. He made his debut as a late substitute in the last match of the 2011-12 season against Liverpool, which Chelsea lost 1-0.

He made his debut for Chelsea in April 2004 in a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic in the First Round of the FA Cup. He scored his first goal for the club two months later in a 4-0 victory over Millwall in the Second Round. In total, he appeared in 171 matches during his time at Stamford Bridge, scoring 21 goals.
Cole left Chelsea after six seasons to join French club Olympique Lyonnais in January 2014. He made 150 appearances for Lyon across all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
