Mary Baldwin played its first baseball game in 1887 and has won or shared 11 conference titles since then. The Lady Bears have also made the NCAA Tournament nine times, most recently in 2016.
In 2001, Mary Baldwin became the first college to sponsor a varsity sport for men: baseball. The new program was created by former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore who had attended MBU before graduating from Yale. He said that he wanted to give his alma mater an opportunity to compete on a national level while giving young people an option other than playing professional baseball. In 2002, football became the second men's sport added when the school agreed to a partnership with Division III Framingham State. The two schools will share resources including coaches and players and neither will be able to offer scholarships. The agreement is expected to last five years after which time both schools will be able to re-evaluate their positions.
Gilmore died in October 2003 after only one season as head coach of the baseball team. He was 57. Former Virginia pitcher Tom Koehler took over as head coach and led the team to a 35-26 record before stepping down after three seasons.

Webb started playing golf at the age of 4. She played in college at Stanford University, where she was a three-time All-American. After graduating, she turned pro in 1991.

Meredith Marakovits was born on January 4, 1970 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a member of the Nebraskan volleyball team from 1994 to 1997 and played in the 1998 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament. In 1991, she graduated from Lincoln East High School.
After graduating from Nebraska, Meredith went on to graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley where she studied molecular biology. She worked as a research assistant before moving back home to take a job with Biogen Idec.

The SEA Games Lydia de Vega-Mercado, track and field In the 1980s, she was the most well-known sportswoman in the country. She broke the Asian record in the women's 200 meters as a 16-year-old on her route to winning gold at the 1981 SEA Games. She also won gold in the 400-meter dash. At the 1987 World Championships in Rome, she became the first Filipino athlete to win a medal when she took home a bronze in the 400-meter race.
After retiring from competitions in 1990, she had a career as a sports analyst for TV Patrol Southern Tagalog. She also served as president of the Philippine Olympic Committee from 1998 to 2001. De Vega is currently the chairman of the board of directors of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
She has been praised for her role in promoting athletics in the Philippines and has received several awards including the Most Popular Sportswoman Award from PMPC Star Awards for Sports.
De Vega is married to former national football player Ricardo De Vries and has two children. They live in San Jose, California, where she works as an advocate for special needs athletes.
Lydia de Vega was born on January 4th 1952 in Malate, Manila. She is of Spanish ancestry and her family lived in exile in Canada after President Marcos declared martial law in 1972. She returned to the Philippines after graduating from high school in 1970.
