The largest sword measures 14.93 m (48 ft 11.79 in) and was achieved by the Fujairah Crown Prince Award (UAE) at the Al Saif roundabout and Fujairah Fort, in Fujairah, UAE, on December 16, 2011. The sword was used during a parade to celebrate the birthday of the President of the Republic.
The second largest sword weighs in at 10.5 tonnes (12 fathoms), is also from the Fujairah Crown Prince Award and measures 2.4 m (8 feet) in length. It was used for testing weapons-grade steel.
The largest sword in the world is called “Big Ben”. It is 21 m (69 ft) long and weighs almost 12 tons (11.3 tonnes). It is held by the Clock Tower in Norwich, England. Built in 1859, it still works perfectly today!
People sometimes think that Big Ben is the name of the clock itself but this isn’t true. The word “big” has been used to describe other clocks with much larger faces. One such clock is in Norwich City Hall, which was built in 1913. It stands 20 feet high and its face is 50 feet wide!
In fact, “big ben” is just the nickname given to the tower that houses the clock’s mechanism. The real name of the tower is The Bell Tower.
The longer sword (katana) had a blade of around 60 cm (2 ft) and the shorter sword (wakizashi or tsurugi) had a blade of 30 cm. Both swords were worn with the cutting edge uppermost, and the short sword was the one worn when the samurai was indoors. Before the katana sword came along, there were two larger swords. The nagamaki was similar to the wakizashi but was always carried by a man at his side instead of in a sheath on his back. It was usually made of iron with a steel core. The oaruhon was like a broadsword and used for cutting down enemy soldiers from a boat.
There were also several smaller swords used by individual warriors. These included the hatamoto-style sword, which was usually only 3 feet (1 m) long and had a sharp triangular point, and the bokuto, which was a large sword used by senior officers.
Samurai swords were made in many different styles over time. They were generally very well made using quality materials such as iron and wood. Although actual battle scenes have been found engraved on rocks in Japan, medieval Japanese warfare was not based on tactics used in modern war. Wars were mostly decided by who had the most money or power behind them.
For example, when a great lord gained control of a region by defeating its previous ruler, he would often hire out his army to other lords at a price per head.

While there are other factors for judging a sword, the four main ones are hardness, strength, flexibility, and balance. Copper, which bends easily, was used to make early swords. A good sword must be hard enough to maintain an edge throughout a length ranging from 18 in (46 cm) to more than 36 in (91 cm). The heath, or tempering process, which brings wood into a state where it will not bend even under great pressure, is essential to making good swords. Hardness can also be achieved by adding steel to the blade.
A strong sword has heavy components that can withstand powerful blows without breaking. The more blades on a sword hilt, the stronger they are because more areas of metal are involved in withstanding force. A strong sword should have a weight between 5 and 8 pounds (2 and 3.5 kg). A very strong sword may weigh as much as 10 pounds (4.5 kg).
Flexibility is important for determining how well a sword will respond to your fighting skills. The smoother the blade, the better it will fight along with you in maneuvering battles. Swords with flexible blades can do things that rigid swords cannot; for example, they can avoid getting stuck on an obstacle during action-packed scenes!
Finally, a high-quality sword should be balanced correctly. This means that if you stand over the center of the sword and push down on the pommel, the blade should stay there.
Categorization based on hilt type

There are also great swords hidden in world of warcraft. Here are the seven that can be found: Zz’manah (Azure Dragons), Shao Kahn’s sword (Dark Shaman), Gehn (Elemental shaman), Taim’ond’s Fury (Monkey King).
Zz’manah is a legendary blade said to be able to slay any beast in the world with a single strike. It was given to Azeroth’s first king by the goddess Ashtoreth in return for his love. Although it could destroy every other sword in the realm, the king chose not to use it because he believed that all weapons should serve as a reminder that peace does not last forever. After his death, the sword was lost until Mankar Camison found it and brought it back to life through magic.
Shao Kahn’s sword is one of the three swords that make up the Cosmic Blade. It was once wielded by the ancient dragon tyrant Shao Kahn before being stolen by Liu Kang during his battle with him in Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.
The blade lengths of ancient one-handed variants varied from 45 to 80 cm (18 to 31 inches). An ordinary sword with a blade length of 70 centimetres (28 inches) would weigh between 700 and 900 grams (1.5 to 2 pounds). The weight of the more powerful versions could reach 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds).
