Helmet stickers, also known as award decals and pride stickers, are decals that are applied to the helmet of a high school or college football player. They can be used to describe either individual or group successes. There are several different types of stickers used by football programs.
A champion sticker is put on the helmet of a player who wins the championship for which it is awarded. These stickers are commonly found on high school and college football helmets.
An honor roll sticker is given to a group of players for an outstanding season. These stickers are usually seen on high school football helmets.
A recognition sticker is given to a player for an achievement such as being named to a all-league team or making the varsity squad. These stickers are often found on college football helmets.
A success sticker is given to a player who has returned from an injury to play at a high level.
A victory sticker is put on the helmet of a player after a win. These stickers are common on high school football helmets.
A weight sticker is placed on the helmet of a player who weighs in at a weigh-in ceremony held before a game. These stickers are common at high school football camps.
Don't settle for football helmet stickers from firms who have only recently chosen to enter the "helmet sticker market." Football helmet decals are a unique type of decal. The lines are very thin and if you push them down too hard or pull them off cleanly, they can tear or come off completely.
Instead, look for helmets with officially licensed NFL team logos on them. These helmets are called "team-licensed" or simply "licensed." You can find these logos on various items such as key chains, coffee mugs, t-shirts, and even skateboards. Some players may also have custom-made helmets painted with their favorite player's image.
Stickers are usually found only on youth football helmets. They're not meant to last long so don't expect your child to be able to wear them for his entire career!
However, if your child does experience some minor trauma to the head, the doctor may advise him to wear a protective helmet for a while. This is especially true if your child plays multiple games in a day. Even youth players should use a helmet that's properly fitted for maximum protection.

Some players may even get rid of some of their stickers if they believe it will make them look better on other players' helmets.
It is not unusual for a player to have hundreds of stickers on his helmet after several years in the league. Many of the top-rated quarterbacks in the NFL do not wear any facemasks, which allows them to display their stickermanship.
