The Allstate Sugar Bowl is an annual post-season college football bowl game that has been played since 1930. It is part of the College Football Playoff (CFP) beginning with the 2014 season. The game is held at Allstate Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the day following the CFP semifinals.
The 2021 game will be the 16th overall all-time and the second time the Buckeyes will play in the game. They last played in the game in 2000 when they lost to Florida State 23-14 at the Sugar Bowl. This year's game will be played on January 1, 2021 at 8:30 PM EST on ESPN.
Ohio State has won five games in the all-time series against Florida State, including four straight from 2016-19. The Seminoles lead the series 4-1-0.
Florida State defeated Ohio State 21-18 in Tallahassee in 2001 during Jim Tressel's first season as Ohio State's head coach. The Buckeyes went on to win the National Championship that year.
On January 1, 2021, the Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Clemson Tigers in the Sugar Bowl. The game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Clemson and Ohio State have never met on the football field. The last time these two teams faced each other was in the 2018 Orange Bowl where Clemson defeated Ohio State 31-30 to claim their third national championship under coach Dabo Swinney.
The Sugar Bowl in New Orleans has always been known for its high quality matchups and is a place where any team can beat any other team. 2020's game between Georgia and Alabama will be one of the most anticipated games of the year and it proved to be another all-out brawl when Clemson took on Notre Dame in 2019. Last year's Sugar Bowl was one for the history books as Drake University alum Deion Sanders' last career touchdown catch helped Florida win its first Sugar Bowl victory in 15 years over Oklahoma.
Ohio State and Clemson will meet for the first time in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 2021. The game will be televised on ESPN at 8:00 PM ET. Tickets go on sale this October for the annual Christmas Day match up between Clemson and Ohio State.
National Championship Game and College Football Playoff The Cotton Bowl Classic and the Orange Bowl will be the semifinal games for the 2021 season. Both are set to take place on December 31, 2021, as part of an annual rotation of three pairs of six-bowl games known as the New Year's Six bowl games. These bowls are scheduled from January 1 through January 2.
The Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual will be the final game of the 2021 season. It is scheduled to take place on January 1 at 5:30 p.m. ET in Pasadena, California.
The Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences will meet in two regular-season games a year after their existing contract expired. The agreements call for the Big Ten to send its champion to Pacific-12 territory for a game known as the Stanford Cup. The winner will go to the College Football Playoff.
The SEC has agreed to a four-year, $160 million contract with the Fiesta Bowl. Under the terms of the deal, which was announced in April 2019, the SEC will receive an additional $20 million if it reaches either the National Championship Game or College Football Playoff semifinals. The SEC also receives an extra $5 million if it wins both its conference titles.
The ACC, Big 12, and Pac-12 have similar contracts with the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual.
The third College Football Playoff semifinal between Clemson and Ohio State went drastically differently from the previous two. After two defeats to the Tigers, the Buckeyes won the Sugar Bowl, 49-28, to advance to the national championship game against Alabama on Jan. 11. It will be the first time that both semifinals and the final are played on New Year's Day.
The Fiesta Bowl invited Clemson and Ohio State to play in its game on Dec. 28. It's the second year in a row that both semifinal games have been held in the same venue. The Orange Bowl hosted the 2015 matchup between Alabama and Florida State between games one and two of the tournament.
Ohio State is making its fourth appearance in the Rose Bowl. The last three times they've gone to Pasadena, Calif., they've finished no worse than second place. Clemson is going for its third straight trip to the national championship game after winning the inaugural playoff title in 2013 and finishing No. 1 this season. This will be the first meeting between the schools.

The Gator Bowl is an annual college football post-season game that is part of the College Football Playoff (CFP). It is sponsored by Anheuser-Busch and is named after the University of Florida's athletic program. The Gator Bowl is held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It has been played every year since its inception in 1998 except for 2000 when it was not played due to 9/11 attacks. That same year, however, the National Championship Game was played at Raymond James Stadium instead.
The Gator Bowl is the second of four CFP games that do not involve a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference or the Big 12 Conference. Instead, the Gator Bowl features teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Pacific 12 Conference (Pac-12).
Florida vs. Oregon will be the 120th meeting between these two schools. Florida leads the series 54-55-1. Oregon last defeated Florida in 2013 while at the University of California, Berkeley. That season, the Ducks beat the Gators 42-13 in the Capital One Bowl.
