The winners were announced at a special awards ceremony held in Zurich on January 9th, 2017. The original trophy for this award is a gold ball with 24 karat gold leaf engraved with the names of all winners since 1971. This year's new trophy is made of silver and measures 42 cm in height. It weighs about 50 kg and is decorated with 12 o'berylights and stars made of white gold.
Ronaldo became the first player to win the award three times when he took home the prize in 2016 while Barcelona's Lionel Messi came second for the third time. Bayern Munich's Mario Götze was third that year.

FIFA World Cup Fair Play Award winners Only clubs who advanced to the second round are eligible. The FIFA Fair Play Trophy, a certificate, a fair play medal for each player and official, and $50,000 in football equipment for youth development will be awarded to the champions.
The award was created in 2014 by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to recognize the best behavior on the field during the World Cup. It is given to one club from each participating country. The award is presented after the conclusion of the final match of the group stage.
Only clubs who have progressed beyond the first round are eligible for this award. There is no limit on the number of teams that can receive the award.
The nominees are determined by an independent committee whose members include former players and coaches, journalists, and officials. They study video footage of matches to determine whether there were any incidents which might not have been seen by the television audience but would have warranted a yellow card or red card if they had been committed by one of the participants.
