Greece is one of the eight countries that have qualified for the Olympics. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece came ninth out of 12 teams. The Greeks are famous for their dance moves when playing basketball, something that has inspired many dancers around the world to try out their own versions of Greek dances. There are several different types of dances used by Greek players including the tarantella, the sirtaki, and the makaronadefense.
Although Greece isn't an absolute newcomer to the sport, it did not participate in any Olympic games before 2004. However, they made a big impact on the tournament, winning two silver medals and helping establish Japan as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage. In addition to their victories at the Olympics, Greece also won the EuroBasket 1995 and 2009 FIBA World Championships.
The country's main basketball league is called "Alpha Ethniki". It has twelve teams, which includes some of the biggest names in Greek basketball such as Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and Real Madrid. Each team plays approximately 30 games per season.
Serbia's women's basketball team qualified for the Olympics as one of the two highest-ranked qualifying squads from Group A at the 2020 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade. The inaugural match (or matches) will take place on July 26, 2021. FIBA is the source. She also won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics.
The first game was played at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on June 25, 1995. USA defeated Yugoslavia 79-56 before a crowd of 3,944 people. Sue Bird scored 19 points for the United States while Sheryl Swoopes had 16 points and eight rebounds. Yugoslavia's Jelena Milovanovic was named the MVP of the tournament after she had 22 points and nine assists in another American loss, this time to Russia 83-64 on August 2, 1995. So far, Serbia has only ever finished outside the top five in the world. However, they did win the European Championship title in 2009.
They will be among the 32 teams competing in Group A at the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade. The winner will advance to the final round where they will try to secure a spot for Tokyo 2020. The other seven groups will each have four teams playing in different locations across Europe between June 25 and July 1.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Basketball The 16 best-placed non-qualified teams from the FIBA Basketball World Cup and the two highest-ranked countries per region in the FIBA World Ranking, sponsored by NIKE, will compete in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. The champion of each competition will be eligible to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The tournaments will be held from 19 July to 9 August 2019.
Each country can only send a team to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games if they finish in the top five nations in the FIBA Olympic Rankings. If more than five nations qualify, the fifth place nation will have the opportunity to replace them by winning one of three new qualifying competitions. The winners of these competitions will go into the FIBA Olympic Rankings next year, joining the other four nations who qualified directly.
The 16 spots that are not allocated to qualified teams will be filled by the following processes: 1 The remaining unallocated spots will be awarded to the continental champions based on their performance during the previous FIBA World Cup or the last Olympic cycle if no world cup was played (2012-2016). 2 Any remaining spots will be given to the hosts after being crowned by the FIBA Asia Champions Cup or by granting an exemption. 3 If there is still space left after all allocations have been made, then it will be opened up to teams that have applied for an invitation.
