A seventeen-year-old Michael Owen, a fantastic finisher and natural striker, burst into the first-team scene at the age of 17 and departed Liverpool with a goal every two games and an FA Cup final named after him. He went on to score 81 goals in 175 appearances for his next club, Manchester United.
Owen was born on August 4th 1979 in South Liverpool, England. His father John was a carpenter and his mother Anne worked as a cleaner to provide for her family. When he was five years old, his family moved to New Brighton, where he began playing football in the local league. He eventually earned a move to Liverpool, where he signed professional forms with the club at the age of 16.
