As a freshman, he started all 34 games and led the team in rebounding with 6.8 rpg. As a junior, he had 12.1 rpg and was second on the team in scoring behind Tony Parker. His best season as a collegian came as a sophomore when he averaged 16.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. After his two seasons at Boston College, Johnson entered the 2009 NBA Draft. The Detroit Pistons selected him with the 35th overall pick in the first round.
