Alexander Edler was born on April 21, 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden. He is a defenseman who plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The Canucks selected Edler with their third-round pick, 77th overall, in the 2004 NHL Draft. Before joining the Canucks, he played four seasons at Boston University, where he won a national championship in 2008.
