The price of a good road bike starts about PS250; the more you pay, the lighter and better specified the bike becomes. There is no such thing as a fair price. There's a lot of variety between PS300 and PS500, and between PS600 and PS1000, you're getting into the region of extremely good road bikes. Above PS1000, it's all about the racing bikes.

The material it's made from also affects the price: steel frames are cheaper than titanium ones. Finally, the warranty determines how much you'll have to pay if something goes wrong with the bike.

Bike prices are just going up and up. The latest entry into this price competition is the $15,000 Orbea Orca SL 2015. It's built with lightweight carbon fiber for speed and comfort. Orbea also claims its best ever braking performance from the same material used on race cars.
The current record holder is the Cannondale SuperSix EVO by Flacco. It costs $20,995 and features a full suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes, and aluminum wheels.
Cannondale also has a men's road bike priced at $22,495: the SuperSix EVO CLX. It uses the same components as the SuperSix, but with a clipless pedal system instead of suspension forks.
The SuperSix EVO CLX was designed by former pro cyclist Dan Jansen and he says it's the fastest production bike you can buy without racing credentials. It uses a full suspension frame with hydraulic discs at the front and back for optimal all-round handling.
The bikes we examined ranged in price from around $300 to over $2,000. We discovered that spending more money gets you a lightweight frame constructed of carbon fiber, aluminum (or a mix of the two), or high-strength steel, as well as other high-quality components. However, an excellent bike can still be purchased for a few hundred dollars. In fact, there are low-cost models available from many manufacturers.
