Postseason money for Wild Card and Divisional Playoff games is somewhat less than a player's weekly income of the $610,000 first-year player minimum wage ($35,882 per week). Certain players' compensation in the conference championships and the Super Bowl might be slashed in half. The highest paid players in these games are usually involved in both teams' strategies so they can make more money.
For example, if one team starts outstrong while the other relies on its running game, the starting quarterback from the strong team could end up making millions while his counterpart makes peanuts. Both players were key parts in their respective teams' defenses that ended up meeting in the big game.
Players who stand out on special teams tend to make even more money because there's a greater chance they'll be selected in late round or supplemental draft picks. For example, a player who returns kicks for his team could earn several thousand dollars after participating in only one postseason game.

In addition, they can earn up to $630,000 in bonuses based on how much playing time they receive.
However, there are several ways to potentially become exempt from this rule. Most notably, if a player is on injured reserve he is paid his full salary regardless of whether or not he plays football. If a player has been suspended without pay he also does not have to report but will still be paid. A player who chooses not to play during any given year cannot be forced into retirement and thus won't be eligible for the bonus money.
Furthermore, since the rookie salary cap system was implemented in 1994, only two first-round picks have managed to win the Super Bowl: Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
The most recent example of a high draft pick who failed to live up to expectations was Andy Dalton. The Cincinnati Bengals selected him number three overall in 2011 despite having already having a very successful quarterback in Carson Palmer. Dalton played just nine games over two seasons before being replaced by Zac Taylor this past offseason.

Ninth-year players will be offered a new contract if they have proven themselves at another club without reaching retirement age. Tenth-year players will be offered a new contract if they have retired from professional football.
The average NFL player pay is $860,000. Not a bad living, but well short of the $2 million that receives more attention. In comparison, a starting one-year rookie earns a minimum of $435,000. There are also other incentives for performance and position that can increase a player's pay further.
Now, this doesn't include perks like free food and lodging or cars provided by teams. Neither does it include bonuses if you make the roster or win games awards.

The average wage for a player is $363,000. Rookies are at the bottom of the scale. The highest-paid players are in the final year of their contracts and receive pay rises to keep up with other sports around the world.
AFL players have the same rights as other employees of the league and are represented by the Australian Football League Players' Association (AFLPA). They are free to negotiate with clubs on wages and other terms and conditions of employment, but cannot be released until after the start of the season. If they choose not to sign with a club then they can continue to be paid their current salary while looking for another team that will give them a contract.
Clubs are required by law to offer a new contract to existing players. If a player does not receive an offer from another club, they can report to the original club which must give them one.
