The Cubs are members of the National League (NL) and have won three World Series (1907, 1908, and 2016). Wrigley Field, Chicago, is the home of the Chicago Cubs. The team, initially known as the Chicago White Stockings, joined the NL as a founder member in 1876 and quickly rose to prominence. They remain one of only two teams to have never lost a game played at home during each season of their existence (the other being the New York Yankees).

First baseman Anthony Rizzo was voted into his first All-Star Game while center fielder Kyle Schwarber was selected as a reserve.

The only mistake the Cubs made in 1906 was losing the World Series. They were defeated in six games by their cross-town rival White Sox in the only all-Chicago World Series ever played. Undaunted, Chance led the Cubs to World Series victories in 1907 and 1908, both times against Ty Cobb's Detroit Tigers.
