To begin with, Alabama has been rated first in the AP Poll at some point in each of the previous nine seasons, dating back to 2008, Saban's second season in Tuscaloosa. During that period, the Tide has topped the rankings 44 times, while no other institution has done so more than 15 times.

In 1992, Roland Brooks returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown. In 1991, Mark Duper led the team in receptions with 49. In 1990, Alvin Harper had eight interceptions. In 1989, Keith Barnett had 57 tackles and three interceptions.
Alabama has a winning record versus every SEC school, present and previous. With 57 final AP Poll appearances through the 2019 season, Alabama is ranked fourth all-time by the Associated Press (AP). The Crimson Tide's current head coach is Nick Saban who has won a total of 26 games in three seasons at Alabama. His overall record is.750 (226-75).
In addition to its four National Championships, Alabama has 28 conference titles to its name. The Crimson Tide last failed to win their division in 1999 when they finished second in the Southern Conference. They have been either first or second in the league every year since then except for 2003 when Alabama was replaced by South Carolina as the conference's pre-eminent team.
Currently, Alabama plays in the SEC West Division. The Crimson Tide has never played in any other division during its time in the SEC. Bama will face off against Georgia in its opening game on August 31 at 3:30 PM CT on ESPN.

There are six national championships. The Alabama football team plays its home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Under Saban, their overall official record is 165-23 (.878), 19 bowl game appearances with 14 victories, eight SEC West crowns, seven SEC championships, and six national championships.

Under Saban, Alabama has won more than half of its games each year since he has been coaching them. He has also led the Crimson Tide to eight SEC West titles and seven SEC Championships during that time. He has won at least ten games in five out of six years at Alabama.
Despite the fact that Alabama is the sport's dominant force, Oklahoma has only lost to the Tide once in five games, won three times. The following are the previous five encounters between the Crimson Tide and the Sooners. Oklahoma leads the series 3-1-1.
Meanwhile, Alabama's passing offense came close to winning the game. On 16/20 throwing, John Parker Wilson threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns. Prior to Saban's arrival at Alabama, the series was extremely close, with the Tide having a 10-7 lead.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is one of many former Alabama assistants who have been able to turn around programs at their previous employer. He replaced Nick Saban after the 2015 season and has led Georgia back to the top of college football. Smart is the first Georgia coach not named Saban to lead his team to a SEC title game appearance. He lost to Alabama 31-28 in 2018.
These two teams have played each other frequently throughout history. They first met on October 19, 1892, with Georgia winning 6-0 in Athens. This was the only meeting between these two schools up until 1947 when they met again in Atlanta's Coliseum.
