He was an 11-time Pro Bowl selection and competed in three Super Bowls, including Super Bowl XXXV as a member of the Ravens. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009 and was a member of the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team as well as the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1990s.
Woodson played college football at Illinois where he was an all-conference pick his last two seasons. He started out as a defensive end but was moved to linebacker as a senior despite playing on a bad knee. He ended up leading the team with 119 tackles that season. After graduating from Illinois, Woodson entered the 1987 NFL Draft where he went straight into the starting lineup for the Baltimore Ravens as their middle linebacker. He spent nine seasons with the Ravens before finishing his career with one more year in 1999 with the New York Jets.
During his time with the Ravens, Woodson won two NFL Defensive Players of the Year Award while being named to the Pro Bowl every year except his first. In addition to his work on the field, Woodson also made an impact off it by co-founding The Rod Woodson Foundation, which aims to improve educational opportunities for youth through afterschool programs and other initiatives.
Since retiring, Woodson has worked as a color analyst for Ravens radio broadcasts and a special teams coach for the team. He has also added some game planning to his portfolio by consulting with various NFL teams regarding player personnel.
It was all Shell needed to begin a career that put him in the Hall of Fame over 50 years later. During his 14-year NFL career, the hard-hitting safety won four Super Bowls and will become the fifth—and most unlikely—member of the "Steel Curtain" defense to be inducted next month.
Donnie Shell played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1960 to1973. He started out as a cornerback but was moved to safety because of his ball skills. Shell finished his career with 178 interceptions, which is still a Steeler record. He also has 22 fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns recorded during his career.
After his football career ended, Shell went on to have a successful business career. He began with a steel company before moving on to an energy company before finally becoming co-owner of the New York/New Jersey Hitmen, a minor league baseball team, in 1977. He remained with this team until it folded at the end of the 1990 season.
In 2001, Shell was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease but he continues to play an important role in the organization of several sports teams including the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has been praised for his work with the Alzheimer's Association by receiving multiple awards for his efforts related to this disease.
Donnie Shell is being inducted into the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame this February.
He was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1997, was named to three All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams, and earned a Super Bowl ring with the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX. As a rookie, he led all defensive players with 14 sacks.
In 1998, he had 11 sacks again, but his numbers dropped off significantly - he only had 3.5 sacks in 1999 and 2.5 in 2000. He retired after the 2001 season.
During his career, he sacked the quarterback 52 times. He is currently second on the all-time list behind DeMarcus Ware (60).
Stubblefield's son, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, is a professional wrestler and actor. The two met when they were both training at the Power Plant in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dana Stubblefield married his wife, Jennifer, in 1987. They have three children: Drake, Braxton, and Journey. Journey, who has autism, is Dana Stubblefield's greatest accomplishment as a husband and father.
Stubblefield began his NFL career in 1996 as a part of the San Francisco 49ers. That same year, he helped lead his team to their first NFC Championship Game since 1990.
As a rookie, he led Baltimore in interceptions, and he led the team in interceptions in seven of his eleven seasons with the club. From 2006 through 2012, Reed was a key member of the Ravens' defense, which helped them win four AFC North Division championships, three AFC championship games, and one Super Bowl. The last game played at Memorial Stadium, Reed's final career contest with the Ravens, resulted in a 34-31 victory over New England for Reed's first Super Bowl ring.
Reed was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Browns before being traded to the Ravens. In Maryland, he won a Super Bowl title with the 2002 Ravens.
He ended his career with the Reed finished with 112 interceptions during his 16-year career. That number ranks him fifth all time among defensive backs. The only players ahead of him on that list are Darrell Green (119), Charles Woodson (104), Bert Emanuel (102), and John Riggins (101).
After his retirement, Reed stayed in Baltimore and worked as an analyst for CBS Sports during football season.
He returned to the city he called home for most of his life during the off-season and is active in local charities including youth football programs and a middle school that bears his name.
In 2014, Reed was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Irvin, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007, had his entire 10-year NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, where he won three Super Bowl championships in 1993, 1994, and 1996. His 750 receptions for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns remain the team marks in all three categories.
He is also known for his hard nose on defense, which led to him being nicknamed "The Ghost" during his playing days. Irvin's ability to find the end zone from anywhere on the field made him one of the most dangerous receivers in football history. He finished his career with 1,715 receiving yards, a record that still stands today.
During his illustrious career, Irvin wore several different colors for the Cowboys, including white (8 years), yellow (3 years), and red (3 years). He never changed teams during his NFL career.
In terms of jewelry, Irvin was known for wearing multiple rings at any given time. He often quoted Steve McQueen when asked about the reason behind his ring collection, saying "When you own several cars, it's only logical to own more than one keyring."
According to the National Football Foundation, Irvin has been awarded its Distinguished Service Award four times: in 1995, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
