Duval, David David Robert Duval (born November 9, 1971) is a former World No. 1 golfer from the United States who participated on the PGA Tour. Between 1997 and 2001, Duval won 13 PGA Tour events, including one major victory, The Open Championship, in 2001. He also has two runner-up finishes at the Masters.
He turned pro at age 19 and immediately became one of the best young players in golf. In 1994, he won his first major championship at the Buick Invitational. This was followed by another win at the 1995 PGA Championship. In 1996, Duval won the PGA Championship for his only career grand slam. He remained at the top of the game for several years, but lost his number one status to Tiger Woods in 1999. However, Duval regained his position after winning three events in 2000 and 2001, including his second Masters title. He retired from full-time play after the 2013 season, having won more than $50 million during his career.
After ending his career as a player, Duval moved into coaching and management. He was named as Davis Love III's replacement on the PGA Tour in April 2014. Duval had been serving as an assistant coach for the Clemson Tigers men's golf team since 2005. He returned to his alma mater as head coach in 2015.
There was just one golfer that participated on the PGA Tour. He became a golf analyst and commentator after his professional golf career faltered, and he presently works for Golf Channel and NBC.
