Gordon John "Gord" Strachan (born July 20, 1949) is a Canadian former professional soccer player who currently serves as an assistant coach for the Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer. A prolific goal scorer, he played for six clubs in five countries during a career that lasted more than 10 years.
Strachan started his professional career with English club Leeds United where he made 170 appearances and scored 46 goals before moving to Scotland in 1975 to play for Dundee United. After three seasons with United, he moved on to French club Nantes where he spent one season before ending his career with another English club, this time Wolverhampton Wanderers.
During his career, he won several individual awards, most notably the PFA Players' Player of the Year award in 1979 after scoring 23 goals in all competitions for Wolves. He also won the European Golden Boot award in 1977 after scoring 42 goals in all competitions for Leeds United.
