Nadal went on to say that if he knew then what he knows now about sports science he would have worked hard as a child to learn how to use his right hand instead, which isn't particularly strong. He said this because over time it has become easier for him to play left-handed than right-handed.
In reply to Federer's question, Nadal said that he learned later in life that being left-handed was very special and gave him an advantage in some situations. Left-handed players are usually more successful than their right-handed counterparts because they can avoid return shots by their opponents. Also, lefties are usually better at hitting overhead strokes such as forehands and backhands.
Overall, Nadal is left-handed because he wasn't born that way but developed it later in life through practice and sports science research. Left-handed people are not less capable than right-handed people; it's just that right-handed people can avoid some techniques used against them by lefties.
