After Stephen Gostkowski was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list, the Tennessee Titans promoted kicker Sam Sloman to the active roster. Sloman made all seven of his kicks in Week 17, including the game-winning field goal that helped the Titans win the AFC South. He is expected to replace Gostkowski as the team's kicker in 2020.
Sloan was drafted by the Titans in 2016 and has been their placekicker since 2017. He played college football at Vanderbilt.
During Sloman's time with the Commodores, they went 74-26 (.737 winning percentage). In addition, he was 3-0 when converting games into playoffs. He was also 2-1 when allowing opponents into the playoffs. Sloman was named First Team All-American by College Football News and Second Team All-American by ESPN. He won the Lou Groza Award given to the best kicker in college football.
Sloan finished his career at Vanderbilt with school records for most points (178) and longest field goals (55 yards). He entered the NFL draft after completing his bachelor's degree in sports management.
