Cold as ice After viewing his final match with the Rock, Steve Austin still gets emotional. Stone Cold Steve Miller was born eighteen years ago, practically to the day. Steve Austin had his final appearance as a wrestler at Wrestlemania XIX in Seattle, when he faced off against Dwayne Johnson—then known as the Rock. During that time, The Rock has become one of the biggest names in wrestling and has sold millions of albums and DVDs.
In January 2002, The Rock announced he was leaving WWE to pursue other opportunities. He said he would be returning to wrestling in April at Wrestlemania XIX in Seattle but instead returned eight months later at the Survivor Series in Washington, D.C. where he and Vince McMahon went head-to-head in a championship match. The Rock won the match and both men left the ring with their hands raised.
McMahon then announced that since The Rock had beaten him clean at Survivor Series, he had decided not to give him another title shot and had replaced him with Jeff Hardy for his next match. The Rock responded by saying "that's okay" and walked away from the ring.
He had been with WWE since he was nineteen years old and was one of the most popular wrestlers in the company. It's no wonder that after his retirement announcement, fans were disappointed with his decision.
However, they still love him to this day.
Stone Cold's most recent bout was against The Rock at WrestleMania XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX In one of the night's finest battles, the two clashed for the final time in their careers. When the two met in the ring, the atmosphere was electrifying, as it usually was. Throughout the bout, The Rock worked on Austin's leg and used the Sharpshooter on him. But in the end, Austin defeated The Rock and became the first man to defeat him in the main event of a WrestleMania. This match is considered by many to be one of the best wrestling matches ever staged.
As far as Stone Cold's career as a whole is concerned, it started out great but eventually fell apart. After his first two WrestleManias, he was declared the winner of both events but didn't win over the fans or the other wrestlers. And so, his career ended with a whimper rather than a bang.
In conclusion, Stone Cold's career was very successful but it also had its lows. He won his first two WrestleManias but lost the third one too. His overall record is 33-4.
This was The Rock's first victory against Stone Cold in their three WrestleMania battles. Austin left WWE on his back, which made sense, but The Rock also departed shortly after the event. This was without a doubt the finest of The Rock's final 10 contests.
The match itself was very good, with both men putting on a masterclass in psychology and drama. They traded blows for most of the match, with The Rock getting the better of it at various points in the match. He tried to get under Austin's skin by pointing out that he was a man who had his legs broken by The Godfather, but this only served to anger Mr. Perfection further. In the end, however, The Rock got over the top rope too late, allowing Austin to score the win.
This is one of the few matches where I actually prefer The Rock to Stone Cold. While there are some great fights between these two characters, mostly involving Austin, my personal favorite thing about them is how charismatic and likeable they are as people outside of the ring. They're both so much more than just wrestlers - they have careers as actors too!
Overall, this was another fantastic match from The Showcase of Wrestling, with two future Hall of Famers delivering an action-packed contest that has become synonymous with WrestleMania.
In his last WWE bout, The Rock beats Stone Cold. But did they really beat each other? In this article we'll look at the results of the match and see.
He came out to a big pop when he returned to WWE in 2015 after taking time off to film DC Comics' Green Lantern movie. He had one goal in mind: to take down John Cena. And he started strong, defeating Cena at WrestleMania 31 to become the new champion. But then The Rock made some mistakes which led to him losing the title back to Cena at SummerSlam. Since then, he has been working on rebuilding his image after the controversial ending of his match with Cena.
So, was The Rock just too old to compete with someone like Stone Cold? Or did he have something else up his sleeve? Only time will tell but for now, let's take a look at the results of their match.
They met on October 10, 1998, at Survivor Series in what would turn out to be The Rock's final WWE appearance before taking time off to film Green Lantern.
"Stone Cold" eventually recovered from his injuries and began his meteoric journey to the top of the WWE hierarchy. Austin wrestled superstars like as Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker, but he's most known for his confrontations with two men: The Rock and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
In December 1994, The Heartbreak Kid took on The Sandman at The Survivor Series in what would become one of the greatest matches of all time. During the match, The Rock made his WWE debut by jumping into the ring to help Austin defeat The Sandman. This led to The Rock and Austin forming a tag team later that night on Monday Night Raw when they faced The Hardy Boyz and their opponents The Godfather and Mr. Perfect. From then on, "Stone Cold" became one of The Rock's earliest allies.
Over the next year, The Rock and Austin went head-to-head several times with each man trying to be the first to win the championship. In 1995, The Rock defeated Bret Hart to become the champion. Then just months later, Austin came back from a 3-year retirement to wrestle The Rock to a no-contest after both men were doused in gasoline and set on fire by McMahon. After this incident, Vince McMahon banned Austin from wrestling for a year, which forced him to retire again.
There were three of them: Cold as ice In 1999, Steve Austin defeated The Rock for the first time at WrestleMania XV, aka 15, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the WWE (it was WWF at the time) Championship, and in 2001, Stone Cold defeated The Rock for the second time at WrestleMania X-Seven in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the WWF Championship once more. These are the only two times that Stone Cold has beaten The Rock in singles competition.
In addition to these six matches, there was also a four-man elimination match at Survivor Series 1997 where The Rock took on both Stone Cold and Bret Hart (who had been removed from the tournament earlier in the night) in a match that lasted over an hour. The winner would go on to face Bret for the championship at Armageddon 1997 but in the end, it was Stone Cold who got the victory and became the new champion.
So in total, Stone Cold has fought The Rock six times with one title change each. That makes him the opponent that The Rock has faced most throughout his career.
Here is how they have done against each other:
Stone Cold: 3 wins - 1 loss
The Rock: 2 wins - 5 losses
So far, The Rock is just not good enough to defeat Stone Cold.
