The "Hotline Bling" rapper received his official ring Thursday night, prior of tip-off at the Scotiabank Arena for the defending champs' opening game of the 2019-20 NBA season. According to Jason Arasheben of Beverly Hills, Drake's handmade ring is worth $150,000 and contains 30 carats of diamonds. It was designed by David Yurman and valued by EJ Chaney of The Rock Report.
Drake announced the news on social media with a photo of him wearing the ring: "Thank you @rockreport for covering my wedding ring! I love that place!"
The ceremony and reception were held at the arena with guests including Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, DeMarcus Cousins and Jimmy Butler. In addition to music, there was food from some of Los Angeles' hottest restaurants, including Oxheart, Umami Burger and Wolfgang Puck. After the ceremony, Drake and Beyoncé left in a black Cadillac Escalade with police escorts while hundreds of fans lined up outside the venue waiting to get inside.
Drake also has two other rings he wore during the ceremony - one from Louis Vuitton and another that cost $750,000 and was designed by Mouawad. He got these rings after winning three awards at the 2017 VMAs.
His wife Beyoncé also has a ring that she wore during the ceremony.
It features his 2001 national championship ring from his time with the Miami Hurricanes, as well as two Super Bowl rings from his time with the New England Patriots.
Despite pulling out of the season owing to health concerns during the coronavirus outbreak, David Price got a 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series ring. He does not want to keep the ring, though. "I'm done with baseball," he said. "I don't want no more rings." The 36-year-old left-hander had been planning to retire after this season. He had surgery last January to remove bone spurs from his pitching arm.
Price made his debut for the 2018 Boston Red Sox against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. He pitched five and two-thirds innings while allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out nine. The game finished in a 4–4 tie. In 2019, he went 12–14 with a 3.86 ERA in 35 games (three starts).
After being sidelined since mid-March due to back problems, Price announced on April 1 that he would return to action this year. However, he decided to quit after one game because he was not feeling well. "I felt like I had some chest pains earlier in the game, so I stopped playing and they let me know that I didn't feel good enough to continue," he said. "So, I'll be done with baseball this year."
David Price has 14 years of major league experience.
It is also the Canadian rapper's first solo diamond certification. Drake also received another diamond plaque for his contribution to Travis Scott's song "Sicko Mode," which surpassed 10 million views in December 2020.
Drake has been recognized by the RIAA with multiple platinum and gold albums. He has also won several awards from the BET Awards, EMA's, and more.
Drake started off as a singer-songwriter who later switched to hip hop. He grew up in Toronto, Ontario and began recording songs at age 14. He signed with Young Money Entertainment after being recommended by Lil Wayne. Under the label, he released two mixtapes and one album, All Me. He then went independent after signing with OVO Sound Records, an imprint of Universal Music Group (UMG). He released two more albums with them before leaving in 2019. Since then, he has signed with Apple Music and will be releasing new music this year.
In 2012, Drizzy became the first Canadian artist to have three songs reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100: "Take Care" with Travi$ Scott, "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen, and "Hold On, We're Going Home!"
The NBA has no criterion for who the owners must award a ring to. They may give it to only the players/coaches/front office, or they can give one to everyone in the organization, including the janitor if they want to. The only restriction is that you cannot be married to someone else who works in the NBA.
In other words, there is no guarantee that an owner will reward his player with a ring. However, if he does, then such a ring would represent his commitment to helping that player develop as a person and a player.
Some examples of rings used by organizations include: A ring given to both a player and coach to show their unity during a season; a retirement ring, which is given to a former player after he leaves the team; and a "honorary ring", which is given to someone without playing talent but who makes a large contribution to the team.
In conclusion, there is no guarantee that an owner will reward his player with a ring.
