Trainer pants are identical to sweatpants except that they are not considered too informal for the gym or the office. Thus, they are a good alternative to slacks when you need to look professional but not stiffly so.
One advantage of trainer pants over sweatpants is that they will not become stained or dirty easily. This is because the material is thicker and there is more of it on each leg of the pair of pants.
