Simon’s initial love throughout his early adolescence was football, and he aspired to be a professional footballer. From the age of 14, he was contracted to the Port Vale “School of Excellence” for four years, and his playing abilities were scouted by both Liverpool and Aston Villa. He eventually signed with Liverpool but was released after just one season due to injury concerns.
After leaving Liverpool, he went on to play for Chester City and Shrewsbury Town in the English Football League. During this time, he also had trials with Manchester United and Leeds United, but neither club wanted to sign him.
He then returned to Wales where he played for Bangor City and Caernarfon Town before retiring from football at the age of 26. After his retirement, he became involved in coaching and managed several clubs including Llandudno Junction, Connah’s Quay & Shotton, New Brighton, Witton Albion and Rhyl FC. He died in November 2015 at the age of 53.
According to contemporary reports, he was given the nickname “The Wizard of Whistlingwick” due to his ability to attract women with his whistling. He was also known as “The Welsh Pirlo” or “Gaig”.
His son Ben also became a footballer and made over 100 appearances in the English Football League.
Simon appeared in nine games for Arizona last season, but had only six tackles as a special teams member. In 2017, he’ll try to break in as a reserve with another squad. Simon agreed to terms with the Redskins on a future deal on Monday, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
He originally signed with Arizona as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State in 2014. He spent that season on the Cardinals’ practice squad before joining their active roster in 2015.
Tharold Simon has been a key special teams player for the Arizona Cardinals since entering the league in 2014. The fifth-year pro has also played in nine games over two seasons for the team and is looking to make the transition from being a backup linebacker to a full-time one this year. Simon was born on January 4th, 1992 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His mother is Haitian and his father is black American. He has three siblings: two sisters and a brother.
After graduating from NC State, where he studied sociology, psychology, and criminal justice, Simon decided to forgo his final year to enter the NFL draft. He performed well at his pro day workout and landed on several teams’ radars after that. The Cardinals were one of them and they invited him to attend their rookie camp. From there, he made it all the way through the preseason and into the regular season with the team until he was released in November.

After redshirting as a freshman in 2009, Simon started all 13 games as a sophomore in 2010, recording 57 tackles and 7.5 sacks. As a junior in 2011, he recorded 65 tackles and 9.5 sacks. After his junior season, he decided to forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.
As a senior at Ohio State in 2012, he finished with 76 tackles and 11.5 sacks. He was selected to the All-Big Ten Conference Team by both the coaches and media.
He played high school football at Westlake High School in Westlake, Ohio.
Simon went to Ohio State on a full athletic scholarship. His older brother, J.J., also played for the Buckeyes and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Their father, John Simon Sr., was an offensive lineman for The Ohio State University from 1976 to 1979. Their mother is Jo Ann Simon; their father was born without arms or legs.
Three physical abilities Vick, like his father, who handed him his first football when he was three years old, shown an early knack for the game. Vick became close to the football team’s coach, Tommy Reamon, a former World Football League standout, at Warwick High School. Under Reamon, who had coached in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Vick improved his passing skills and learned how to take hits. After graduating from Warwick in 1995, Vick went to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he played quarterback for the Virginia Tech Hokies football team.

He finished his career at Virginia Tech with over 10,000 yards of total offense and 80 touchdowns passed and rushed. In addition, Vick led the Hokies to a Bowl Alliance title in 1998 and an undefeated regular season in 1999 before losing in the National Championship Game.
Matt was an outstanding football player at Wake Forest University. He also had fairly outstanding football stats, which allowed him to play in the NFL for a year before deciding on his chosen path. His football career began at Wake Forest, where he was a wide receiver for four seasons. During that time, he made a name for himself by catching 93 passes for 1,460 yards and ten touchdowns.
When Matt finished up at Wake Forest, the NFL was just around the corner and he decided to give it a try. He signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent and ended up playing one season in the league. He caught 20 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns, which were all good numbers for a reserve player.
After his only season in the NFL, Matt decided to retire from football to focus on school work. However, he still keeps in touch with friends from the game and has appeared on ESPN’s College Football Tonight series multiple times since retiring.
In addition to playing football, Matt also wrestled in college. He went 82-3 during his four years at Wake Forest and was a two-time All-American. After graduating from Wake Forest, Matt entered the NFL draft again. This time he was picked by the Baltimore Ravens as a wide receiver. He played one season for the Ravens before moving on to other things.
